Shinsekai Yori - From The New World
Title(s): Shinsekai Yori - From The New World
Shin Sekai yori
Japanese: 新世界より
Creator: Yūsuke Kishi
Genres: Science Fiction, Supernatural
Age Group: Older Children (May contain mild bad language, bloodless violence)
Vintage: September 28, 2012
Status: Still Airing
Summary: About one thousand years into the future, civilization has been retrograded and humans are living dispersed within small communities. People in this era have a psychic power called "Juryoku" which materializes things they imagine. In the absence of advanced scientific technology, people are using this power as a major source of energy.

One day, a girl called Saki, along with her friends, finds a small archive robot outside the town. It records the ancient history of humans. It tells them that Juryoku was found in the 21st century and the discovery caused a world war between psychics and non-psychics. The psychics won this war and thus their reign of terror began.

When the adults in town figure out that the children discovered this forbidden knowledge, they seal their Juryoku and exile them. Saki and the others end up in a forest where they meet a huge hairless bipedal mouse known as a "Bakenezumi" and get involved in a violent war the creatures are currently engaged in.

It's a bit slow at first and I actually planned to drop it "soon, just let's see the next episode", but in the end I didn't - how glad I am! It seems many dislike the 8th episode (yaoi/yuri) but for me this is when things get super interesting. The characters turn 14 (12 was too young for me, I don't like series about children - can't relate at all, + I don't even like children), the introduction to the world of Shinsekai Yori is mostly done - the series no longer is confusing. I also liked the fact that homosexual relationships are shown as something (read more)

Shinsekai Yori is a fascinating take on dystopian fiction, The series appears to be inspires by Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, right down to the title. However, Shinsekai Yori also presents its viewers with moral dilemma: is it right for a government control or even kill its own citizens in order to protect the other citizens? Without giving too much anyway, Shinsekai Yori shows one possible way in which society might handle the sudden manifestation of psychic powers. At times, the series is outright disturbing in the way it portrays human nature. (read more)

When I first watched this show I had some expectations, mainly based off my first episode impressions, but soon after that I have no expectations at all. Shin sekai Yori is the most unique anime I watched to date. Granted the show has a lot of explaining to do, so if you're not into heavy dialogue anime then I wouldn't recommend this to you. However, once you get through most of the explanation, I would say around episode 9 or 10, once you get that understanding for what their world is really about and the mystery behind it, that is when the show (read more)

For those who heard about ep 8 you should not drop this series because the story is good. I also felt uncomfortable because that kind of yaoi kiss are usually in hentai or borderline hentai anime but when that scene came just avert you eyes.
I like the suspense in this anime. Also plus point for this anime is the design of cloth, they are beautiful. The ed song also pleasant to the ear
