Oozora Reiji isn't a lazy boy, he's just terribly unmotivated; all the clubs and activities he's joined don't interest him for long. That is, of course, until his best friend Yukino takes him to a underground arcade where an unbelievable virtual reality game is played - Dragon Drive - in which players fight each other with virtual dragons. Reiji ends up throwing all he's got into training a dragon so rare that the Dragon Drive staff are baffled. But soon Reiji learns that Dragon Drive isn't all it seems, and he might be the only one who can save an entire world from evil. |

The anime is different from the manga

I musts ax the manga pwns the anime by far! First of all the anime series has many characters that do not appear within the manga series. Additionally, the anime series, unlike the manga series, has not followed up with Part 2. As well as this, in the manga Reiji scores 31 on a test, whereas in the anime he only scores a mere 27 points. Also noteworthy, Reiji, have after acquiring Shinsaber, only uses the sword a few times in the manga. However, he uses it several times in the anime.

They Basically couldnt follow the original Manga because it was a monthly release while the anime was weekly so they came up with some filler moments and didnt animate the second part of the manga which is the best part of it.
However if you dont read Manga usually, this is a good watch. It indeed has some good fights and if you didnt read the manga then you wont be as disapointed as someone who actually read it.
The animation is very average and sometimes even worse
Overall the anime is not bad. ( show less)

The animation looked good but later they started using cgi elements like in the new naruto shippuden episodes . Why ? Cgi looks like shit !

I wonder why this anime is underrated so i write a review too :3 This anime was an important part of my childhood and thats the main point. Its a little childish because there are no super bloody fighting scenes like in serious animes but the story is really great. And this is not like digimon. Its completely different

I finished this anime a year ago but man was it good. I almost forgot about it. The ending is very sad and the story keeps you atached to the screen. Very good story build up and character development through middle of the show and lots of memorable moments !

Watched this long time ago - it's very good and tbh never finished watching entire series - seems I'm missing 12 episodes - time to finish it now (: - tks ppl for making reviews - wouldnt have remembered without u guys

now that you remind me of this anime...
When this ended i cryd this was 1 of ma fav series and i loved it and the litle dragon just like a cut pet! chibi left him and i mean the ORIGNAL chibi left him and is gone from him his litle cute pet he did everything with him. Training, playing, protecting and he loved him no matter what :D Farewell the litle cute pet gone from the world bye dragon drive i will miss you! D:

I watched this series like 8 years ago so i dont remember much but i dont think this is a masterpiece. Death note is. But this is more like bleach or naruto. Cool anime but no masterpiece. But for some reason the opening makes me really sad as if something sad happened which i dont remember anymore... Maybe I should watch it agaiin lol
