conclusion: may remind fans a little much of cowboy bebop here or there, but it's an own anime and a decent one at that. the plot is okay, with good length and pacing, but takes a while to get going and seems somewhat disconnected (lacks proper explanations, e.g.; and the sub-arcs kind of have that "monster of the week" feel to them -.-). lovable characters and quirks though, and has its own charm if you really get into it. humour flows well with the story, and the darkness/mystery feel is sure not to disappoint. it's not quite one that follows its manga all that well, but it's a decent one to watch especially for mystery lovers.

Firstly, allow me to say that I liked the second season of this series more than the first because the second series was more coherent and was more distinct from other series. In a nut shell, Darker than Black is Cowboy Bebop except that the rag tag team of bounty hunters is now a cell that works for a syndicate on Earth. The music is extremely similar (duh right? both were done by Yoko Kanno), the fight scenes and animation style are similar, both shows lacked a coherent story line and instead focussed on new bounties or missions every episode, the protagonists of both series are probably best friends... The point being, the show is alright but I will always view it as a lesser version of Cowboy Bebop. (show less)
