Shindou Ranmaru has just graduated from police academy and assigned to Tokki: Special Mobile Investigation Force. On the day of his graduation, he meets the half-naked girl he has been seeing in his dreams, Rokujo Sakura. It turns out she works for a secret group within Tokki, known as Tokko: Special Public Safety Task Force. Shindou ends up joining Tokko to avenge his parents' death, and solve the mystery mass murder of residents in his hometown of Machida. Bottomless pits start to appear around Japan, and mysterious creatures emerge from them, linked to the mass murder of humans. All this to do with something called "The Box of Dirge"... |

Getting started with this anime. The storyline is alright, and the animation not terribly flashy, but considering the vintage of it, its not bad. I can't quite put my finger on it, but after watching only a few episodes i find myself very intrigued. I feel as though something exciting is brewing, and i'm waiting for it. I was turned onto this anime by blogs of people who appreciated other animes i enjoy, and gave it a shot. I think it could be great, but we'll have to wait and see. I would say it's definitely worth a watch to try something different.

"Tokko" is obviously an anime of the horror genre. The story of "Tokko" is relatively simple and straightforward - boy loses parents in crazy mass murder, boy grows up and vows to avenge his parents death, boy learns that the mass murder is actually the result of some crazy zombie-creature attack, boy realizes he's more connected to the incident than he could have ever imagined. Though simple, the story is also very interesting and doesn't take much effort to follow. The artwork is pretty good, but is not the best around. The action sequences are ( read more)

This is indeed a excellent anime.
Bloody, violent and dark to the core.
The story is interesting and catching with a good dialogue and lots of action.
Animation and characters could use some finishing touches, but over all really good.
I recomment this anime to those who like a good horror.

From the start it was impressive, it captured your imagination and kept you wanting more, however it never lost the subtle edge of a normal anime series and also managed to work in some average comedy.
However here is the crunch, the ending was a cliff hanger and for that it is a terrible anime.
Great story with lost of potential let down by the shortness and ending.

This is one of the best anime series I have ever watched. It has comedy, it has fighting, it has the whole detective thing but best of all it all fits together and works as a series. The animation is very up to par as well as the story line which is very important in a series because it allows the characters to actually develop as if you know them in person. I highly recommend this

I like a good story that keeps you guessing who the good guys are. This one is very entertaining, to bad that there are only the 13 episodes.
Many thanks to the folks that provided it to the site.
I remember watching one episode when it came out and wanted more.
