| Summary: |
Shu is a typical Japanese boy, but has an unbeatable, optimistic and determined attitude. However, when he sees a mysterious girl with strange eyes named Lala-Ru up on a smokestack, he is soon pulled into a strange desert world. Shu soon discovers the true terrors of war, which includes genocide, brutal torture, hunger, thirst, and child explotation. Now Shu is trying to save Lala-Ru, as well as his hard earned, and often relunctant, new friends from the insane dictator, Hamdo. Whether Shu can possibly accomplish saving those he cares about while still holding up to his values remains to be seen. |

One of those classic series you should see. Story is quite captivating, but there are at least two character stereotypes which sometimes look silly in their dialogues. There were episodes which had had a slow start, but in the end the pace was very good. And great conclusion as well.

This is not your typical anime where you will get super power characters or funny high school life. This anime show the human effort of trying to survive and keeping sanity intact as a human being even when given the harshest environment and situation. Even though its not a flashy anime and its pretty old, it has its moral values which teaches the meaning of being human.
