At the time this movie was released Rukia was criminally underused so it was refreshing to see an entire movie about her. Ichigo fighting the Soul Society in the beginning of the film was a nice contrast and mirrored the first bleach story arc pretty well. This movie is pretty heavy on the emotional side and doesnt have as many battles as you might expect from a bleach story, but the intense climax makes up for that. And even then they dont forget to include the emotional aspect. Personally I prefer Diamond Dust rebellion becuase of my Hitsugaya bias but as a movie Fade to Black is actually the better one, mostly because it doesnt have any huge plot hole and the things they added to Rukias past didnt really contradict what has already been shown in the show. Before I begin, I just want to say, I absolutely love the Bleach series, it is one of the only anime series I still bother to watch. Yet this movie just didn't quite meet my expectations. I don't think the bar I set was too high, the movie just didn't seem to fire on all cylinders. The plot, the action (or lack of) just wasn't up to the usual standards set by both the anime and the previous movies. I managed to sit through the whole thing, but at the end I was left feeling somewhat deflated. But this could just be me, if you're a fan of Bleach then watch it, but be warned, it might not be as good as you hope. (show less)

this anime is rated 100% butto be honest its the worst of all the three movies, at least that's my opinion and of course you won't exactly undestand whats going on util the very last second of the movie and aso this fade to black movie is nothing compared to the second movie(the diamond dust rebellion), the action is very low of rate in the movie and even the romance is dunb to be honest i didn't exactly enjoy watching but if you like rukia so much that you would just wat to see her and not he action parts you should watch it....but if your deciding to choose betwen the second and the third mocie you shouls watch te diamond dusr rebellion(second movie)first...thats al.
