This is an anime with a plot that is superb, animation that is excellent and an overall outstanding use of your time. Be warned though, under the facade of all things wonderful this story takes on a gory, dark turn. I am still a big fan of that, until people start falling like flies, and then your heart wrenches with every passing episode. And even thought it is so good that you can't help but continue, you are left at the end with a hollow chest. So much to take in, you'd need a few days after just getting over all the shocks. Even though, this is one of the best animes out there, and very worth the watch.
Consider it somewhat like the Game of Thrones, of anime. (show less)

Personally, I felt that the selling point of this anime was the action and fighting. Those were a bit over-the-top and were mainly what kept me watching. The anime funnies were decent and they do try to build on the characters in the show. However, Esdeath basically steals the stoplight part way through, which pushes many characters into supporting roles. Unfortunately, the story is set up such that there are very few possible outcomes for her and I was hoping for a different ending (particularly for Esdeath) for most of the show. The anime is a bit one dimensional with a relatively straight forward good vs. evil. This is one of those animes where things aren’t the most logically sound but you just go along with the ride. Akame Ga KILL was an enjoyable watch for the most part but, the ending really makes the anime implode in on itself.

The main story is supposed to be about rebels trying to over-through a corrupt government but at the end you are left in the dark with regards to the future of the country and its citizens. Instead the anime kind of romanticizes assassins… (show less)

This anime could of been really good the only thing that spoilt it is the storyline.
SPOILER ALERT:

The fact that they killed of 8 of the 10 members of night raid is the terrible side of the anime, they even killed off tatsumi the main character, I mean come on!! I really enjoyed the first few episodes and thought to myself I found a gem of an anime but they started to kill character that you got close to off. I kinda expected maybe 2-3 of the members to die not 8 and especially not the main character.

The anime could of been great but the storyline was soo rubbish! (show less)
