Oddly original mecha-centric story.

This anime surprised me. There are a lot of mecha-themed anime out there, but this one has a breath of fresh air; originality, and lots of it. I would suggest this might be better for more mature anime fans, as there are a few themes that might not go over well.

This is best explained as... the best of mecha meets not annoying and amusing harem. You don't have to really be into either to enjoy this series, and I believe that is one of the best points it has.

The story in itself unfolds well and while you find interest in the goings on within the ship, the mystery of the past is revealed slowly but not in a boring way. There is a lot of well done action. I never felt that the downtime from the fighting was too much, nor was it constant explosions and violence. (Not that... I would mind.) There is a lot going on here, and there's a lot of character development. It's amusing that men and women went their separate ways and found an asexual way to reproduce. It is equally amusing how both worlds are differ from one another. The women, for instance, fall in love before having a child while the men are reproduced en masse. (Yes, there is yuri. It isn't the main theme, and there is our certainly hetero hero. If you're intolerant, then regretfully pass this anime up.) The women of the ship find their new male "alien" as he's called fascinating, while the confusion of trying to understand one another is highly amusing.

All in all, I found it to be a funny and an entertaining watch. It'll keep you coming back for more.
