Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni, he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape. |

I think anyone who dives into the world of anime should give Rurouni Kenshin at least a spin.
It's an old one, but it's classic. You have beautiful old style artwork, fantastic music, amazing fight scenes and heroes and villains that really do the job.
Especially if you're interested in the samurai era, this is a must.
Plus the fact that Kenshin is one of the most amazing characters/ heros of all time.
You can split the show into 3 parts. The first 30 episodes are a warm up of getting to know the characters and laughing. The middle 30 are the main plot where all the action and adventure and heart racing moments happen. And the last 30 compiles of several arcs that aren't that necessary, but are still faily enjoyable.
But it's fantastic. I've watched it several times already and have gotten several other people hooked.
Wonderful characters.
