A spate of mafia assasinations occurs in America, the work of the mysterious organization named Inferno. "Phantom" is their most strongest and capable assassin, however a lone tourist witnesses Phantom's latest act of murder. He unwittingly exposes the top assassin's true identity, a young girl named Ein. Witnesses are usually killed, but the man is captured and taken to be brainwashed into "Zwei", Inferno's newest assassin, with no memory of who he is. From this point on, Zwei is drawn into a world of conspiracy, deceit and violence. |

Requiem for a Phantom is a excellent anime, following the dark decent of a natural born assassin, a living experimental subject brainwashed and forced into the dark alleys of the underworld. an abandoned orphan with hatred towards the two AND a psychological demented scientist as well as several other kings of the underworld, the recipe for awesomeness. Death, Forbidden Romance, Guns and Emotional Pain, Requiem for the Phantom delivers everything you could want from a dark anime and more.
I like the animation style in RftP. just raw no exaggerated or softened scenes, personally my favorite type, the opening is the best I have ever seen in an anime. Every character coming from a different yet similar past emotional or physical pain, It is seat gripping, tear dropping Entertainment to say the least, the setting is based mainly in a city which is being taken over by a group of underworld kings, but the thing i really liked about this anime is that, there was no bullshit happily ever after, which I feel I am drawn to when watching anime.
This anime has a permanent place among my top 5. Along with Clanand/After Story, Elfen Lied, if you have watched them and realised how epically awesome they are. RftP is on par with them 11/10! I would say this anime targets mature teens and young to middle-aged adults
