Even it's aimed at children this is family anime and it's not less interesting if you are older. Totoro creature is so sweet, lovable, he doesn't talks but he is adorable. Some parts of the story reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, because it also have some bizarre fantasy. This anime can be seen as simple, a classic of children's anime, but you can considered a main story at different way. Someone mentioned that Totoro is actually messenger of Death, I think he is imaginary friend of characters (two children) who are facing with a tough moments (mother's illness). So, if you like a heartwarming fantasy story with a nice, funny characters but with no antagonist role and even if you are a little bit older it's ok, this is for everyone with an open heart for adventure and fantasy.
