This is a space opera set to Daft Punk Discovery. Do not look at the vintage 2001 and turn your nose, because the creators of this anime successfully employed a timeless design to the visual elements. The characters, in specific, resemble vintage 80s/70s looking types, where their implementation is oriented towards giving you an impression of childlike innocence, cleverly underscoring the Discovery album/theme. Just like the band takes you on a trip during their live shows and you ride an emotional rollercoster of the human condition and rock out, Interstella sucks you into a story that is so distracting you dont even think about the price of admission.
Daft Punk is a smart outfit, and their creativity shines in this anime.
